Chapter 1 of 3

How did you first fall in love with sewing?

I first fell in love with sewing because I’m a textile artist. For years, I’ve been transforming clothing through dyeing and other techniques, but I often couldn’t find garments that matched the vision I had in my head. I worked with a few talented seamstresses, but custom pieces took time and the final result wasn’t always exactly what I had imagined. Eventually, I realized I wanted the ability to create my own clothing and bring my ideas to life exactly as I envisioned them.

Chapter 2 of 3

What was your very first project using Rosys Patterns, and how was the experience?

My first Rosys Patterns project was actually my very first sewing project made entirely from a pattern. Before that, I had only altered clothing and sewn my own brand labels onto garments. I had never read through an entire sewing pattern before.

I made the Fruit Top and Shorts co-ord set using two men’s shirts and a men’s tunic that I upcycled for fabric. The pattern was easy to follow, even as a complete beginner. I really appreciated how the instructions broke everything down into simple, manageable steps. It gave me the confidence to tackle a project I never would have attempted otherwise.

Chapter 3 of 3

How has sewing impacted your life?

Sewing has become such a big part of my life. It has definitely taken over more of my time than I ever expected—and almost every project takes much longer than I think it will! But it’s also been incredibly rewarding.

More than anything, sewing has taught me patience. It has shown me that there’s always something new to learn, no matter your skill level. Every project teaches me a new technique, a better way of doing something, or a lesson I’ll carry into the next one. That’s one of the things I love most about this craft—you’re never really finished learning.

One of my favorite parts of sewing is pairing it with my love of textile art. I love hunting for unique vintage garments and beautiful fabrics that others might overlook, then giving them a second life. Being able to transform those materials into one-of-a-kind pieces that I designed and sewed myself has become one of the most rewarding parts of my creative journey.
