Sewing Her Way Back to Herself: Ana’s Story
Chapter 1 of 4
How it began
As a little girl, I used to fashion handmade outfits for my dolls, dreaming of designing real clothes one day. Decades passed, and life took over, but that quiet passion never truly left me.
Chapter 2 of 4
What it gave her
My thirties have been a beautiful contradiction. On the outside, they’ve been a blessing—I’m traveling, learning, growing, and building a life with the man I love. But beneath the surface, the first half of this decade has brought some of my toughest battles. Unless you’ve been in the trenches of infertility, it’s hard to truly understand the weight of it. With each passing month, I felt like I was slowly losing myself to the grief and isolation. Then, I was gifted my first sewing machine last year for my 35th birthday. I cried tears of absolute joy that day. I didn't realize just how much that machine would save me. Sewing hasn't just been about creating clothes; it has been the crucial piece in healing, reclaiming my identity, and feeling like myself again. Here’s to reclaiming our joy, honoring our inner child, and remembering that it is never too late to start stitching a new story.

Her Rosys make
The first project using Rosys Patterns was the Laura set in a buttery yellow linen blend. The instructions were very easy to follow for a beginner and the project came out lovely. This set was a lot of firsts for me my first time doing pleats, using lace, and tackling a large collar. To this day, that set is one of my favorites. It’s perfect for summer 🌸
Chapter 4 of 4
When it got hard
With each new project I take on, I try to expand my skills. I used to look at things like pattern grading, bias cuts, or complex linings and think, 'I could never do that.' But now? I look at a challenging technique as an invitation to grow. I'm fully willing to make mistakes in the name of growth mostly because my seam ripper and I have developed a deeply codependent relationship. Every time I master a tricky new technique (or spend an hour un-stitching a zipper I put in upside down), I'm proving to myself how much I can grow.
